Rimmers Revotec electric fan kit

Just had a sales email from Rimmers about this kit. It looks the part however not currently available for Dollies. I emailed Rimmers this morning apparently Revotec are in development for Dollies now. This is the link

...but I've been using the Revotec thermostatic controller (the bit that fits in the top hose and switches on/off the fan relay) for years now. Brilliant piece of kit. I just run an aftermarket 12in electric fan that it controls.

It is the one that fits a 32mm ID hose. Available from Burton and I assume many other outlets.

I managed to get a metal thermostat housing pipe of the right diameter for a Sprint for a couple of quid. I pretty sure that it should be possible to build something similar for a fraction of the cost using a generic temperature sensor. I doubt there is £200 worth of parts in that kit.

Does the belt driven fan and pulley have to be removed to make way for an electric fan and what alternator drive belt is used if so?

I've fitted an Aeroline 12" 220w fan to my Sprint, had to remove the fan boss completly, and fitted a Gates V-Belt 10mm x 737mm Part # 6276MC as an alternator belt.

Temperature control was initially via a replacement for the original temperature sender that had a 96°C switch. Then I went a bit OTT fancy and built a small computer (Arduino for those interested) that monitors the temperature from a sender mounted in the top hose, and added a wirewound resistor so that I can run the fan automatically at two speeds (three if you count 0 rpm!) depending on temperature load.
