Quick easy one this I hope....
Should the Sprint gearbox bell housing have bushes in the casing for the clutch cross shaft to run on?
Had a look on a diagram but can't seem to see anything?!?!
Chris.

Yes they do! When I put a new box on mine I replaced all these bits just to take up all of the slack in the clutch mechanism, bought the bits from Chris Witor, including the upgraded tapered pin for the cross shaft.

Yes they are a simple push fit sprung ring. Common to TR6's T2000's and stags too.
Moss Europe are my nearest supplier. Well worth changing and not difficult - old ones out with suitable chisel and new ones drift in easilly.

Ah ! That explains it. These bushes ( 137651 ) are in the 1980 parts book on page 1F-10L but are pictorially shown as cylindrical plugs.
I have a scribbled note that they should be on page 1E 04R with the cross shaft from when I had DHO.
Mystery solved from 10 years ago.

I got caught out with that picture too, doesn't look like a picture of bushes to me.
Second question, is there a set distance they should be fitted from the hole to the outside of the box. Currently I've fitted both approx 2-3mm from the outside. The recess is quite deep - could almost get two bushes on each side!

Some people do fit 2 bushes in one side.I would keep the slave side more outboard as thats where the force of the slave pushing the bar will concentrate, probably academic though.
