Replacing a roof

How hard is it to replace a dolomite roof,what is involved,and what price do they go for ?

How long is a piece of string?

It's as hard as you want to make it! i've not actually changed a Dolomite roof panel, but I have done a GT6 MkIII, also swapping out the top half of the screen frame, in total, it took me about 5 days, working on the measure 6 times, cut once principal! The beauty of the Sprint is that you can cover a multitude of sins with a vinyl roof!

I have a really nice complete roof panel here, carefully removed, no sunroof, yours for £50 collected.

I did carefully glued another roofskin on top of another. My wife's 2500 had a large hole in it's roof because of a sunroof what we did not want. After the bodypanelglue was hardened i smoothed the edges and put a vinyl roof over it. It is not visible and taking good care with anti rust primers all goes fine. It's a daily driver and the transplant was done I think about 10 year ago and still no rust bubbles under the vinyl. The advantage is that it takes less time and no distortion by welding etc.

Who are the couple in the photo Jeroen? I think I recognise them from past TDCIR events. He had a modified Sapphire blue Sprint?

Those are Adri van Sante and is wife. They are/were visiting Triumph UK events regulary but I havent spoke to them the last 5+ years. The last time was at Gaydon at 40 years sprint I believe.

This picture was at a Dolomite meeting a few years ago. Together with Hans and Wineke I organized an event to see if there was any chance to have a seperate Dolomite department of the Club Triumph Holland. There turned up a lot of Dolomites and a few ex owners from the past that were involved with the then TDCN but no real plans were made. At the moment another person is trying again but I guess it will not happen. I'm not a club person and don't attend meetings and only drive one rally that has the name of the club above but is open to all classic cars and not really a Triumph event. The thing is that the very few Dolomite drivers here in NL most do drive theirs daily. At a meeting it's the same feeling standing next to your daily Picasso or Astra and driving a run with fellow owners is the same. The TR and spitfire people drive their hobby and I in my daily.

I drive the Carledo daily, it doesn't stop me enjoying a day out or a run out with like minded people. And I still get a huge buzz just firing it up every morning - even if i'm only driving to work!

I remember that Sprint at Gaydon - and at prodrive the day before! It impressed me so much, I took pictures, a rare thing for me!

I made/supplied him that aluminium rad in the frame at that time. That is a Fiesta diesel rad from about 50 gbp what does the job very well and no body modifications needed. A very cheap effective modification and easy to fabricate. The rad has about the same hight, fitting in the original side frames but is wider and uses the whole front area. The upper and lower frame you have remake from sheetmetal and is obviously longer.
