Paint finish on a new review car is a bit iffy! Good video, shame they did not show the lower steering column bush though... :P

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

Great video, thanks for posting the link.
That led me to other video road tests in the series. The fashions in the Fiat coupe test are a favourite as is the guy thrashing the X19 across rough ground.

I wish the BBC would release some of the very early Top Gear or Wheelbase road tests.

Brilliant clip find, thanks for sharing. Even the Thames intro music brought back memories.

I remember this programme with fond memories. I used to work in Thames TV outside broadcasts, and we shot all of the Drive-in programmes, Tony Bastable, Shaw Taylor etc.

This sequence was shot at the MVEE ( military vehicles engineering establishment) track at Longcross, near Chertsey in Surrey, now closed and built upon.

Not long after that in 1975 I bought an early Mimosa Sprint, and the happy memories stayed with me until I bought my present Inca Sprint in 2017.

Brilliant fill in, thank you!

That's just the sort of anecdote (expanded on a bit obviously) that IMO would be great for the TDC magazine.
