Dolomites don't do relay's. Pure good old amps through the switches.

Yes, one is permanent the other is through the ignition switch. There should be relays on a lot or circuits...but there wasn't from the factory.

Relays need more cabling and cause connecting confusion on the assembly line, thus a reason to strike, easier to buy high amperage expensive dc switches.

And when things go wrong a fire means a new car. Good marketing strategy.

I still think of relays as a novelty, and I'm not that old, as all the cars I had growing up never had relays or if they did it was just the one like for the horn.

Mr Lucas has been a tad unjustly maligned, just as with any other, at the time ubiquitous, mass producer of product they build and deliver to a cost. Could be worse, like the Magneti Marelli stuff I've encountered in years gone past!
Current fleet: '75 Sprint, '73 1850, Daihatsu Fourtrak, Honda CG125, Yamaha Fazer 600, Shetland 570 (yes it's a boat!)

Past fleet: Triumph 2000, Lancia Beta Coupe, BL Mini Clubman, Austin Metro, Vauxhall Cavalier MK1 & MK2, Renault 18 D, Rover 216 GSI, Honda Accord (most expensive car purchase, hated, made out of magnetic metal as only car I've ever been crashed into...4 times), BMW 318, Golf GTi MK3 16v x 3

It's very hard to make exact reproductions of Italian harnesses. It's almost unnatural to fabricate because I'm always tempted to improve because that's so easy to do.
