I'm trying to get hold of the connectors that are used in the overdrive switch. I started off in the big chain stores like Halfords and Homebase, then the smaller electrics stores, and one bloke even sent me to a radio specialist! Are these connectors specific to our cars? What are they called?
The common standard connectors female connectors can be purchased at any auto shop relatively cheap so it is worth having a go. Have another look at the photo's. It is just a matter of cutting one half off and the remaining bit will slide over the male pin connection in the switch.
Hi Kyle, When my gear lever cable broke I just cut off the original connectors to the O/D switch, opened up the crimps with a pair of cutters and soldered the new cable on. I then used extra sleeving to stop the connections shorting down to the gear lever.
Tony.
Spade connectors are available in various widths, commonly used on car speakers. I couldn't find any on Ebay in small quantities though, and they all seem to come from the Far East.
