Re: Sprint cam covers
I have got a couple of scruffy ones cam covers, how can you get orginal paint/enamel off. Tried some good paint stripper but that does not work.
I also have one that has been powder coated but it has gone inside the holes for the plug tubes so they won't fit!

You can sand or scrap powder coating off from little bits like the plug tubesdursley92 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 4:43 pm I have got a couple of scruffy ones cam covers, how can you get orginal paint/enamel off. Tried some good paint stripper but that does not work.

Re: Sprint cam covers
The gauze is covered by a plate which is welded to the cover. It can be removed if you drill out the spot welds, but of course you will need to replace it and weld the plate back.
Be very careful because the gauze can be contaminated if the cover has been blasted whilst powder coating. The media then gets everywhere in the engine and completely wrecks it. I speak through experience with a Stag.

Re: Sprint cam covers
On the sprint covers I have, the plate is held with peened areas of the cover. Plate is steel and cover is obviously aluminium. I gently prised out the plate and after cleaning pushed it back in and gave it another peen to be sure
