Slight creak at one part of steering wheel arc

#1 Post by Stephenread »

Hi

I may not be describing this very well but having had my SE on axle stands as part of the recommissioning and been turning the steering wheel between each extreme, I seem to have a creak at 1 part of the turning circle.

I've watched the various joints and can't see anything catching or that this could be a loose nut. Can anyone provide suggestions on what else to look for?

And also - would this be an MOT fail?

Thanks in advance

Stephen

You can eliminate components one at a time Stephen...
disconnect the steering coupling from the rack and
the steering rack track rod ends from the bottom ball joint arms.

This gives you four separate things to try,
1, turn the steering wheel
2 and 3, turn each hub assembly
and 4 move the steering rack from one side to another.

Hopefully this will narrow the search down.
