One of the warning light bulbs in the circular cluster has gone out, so since it is a bit of an effort to get at them, I thought I would replace all eight. I ordered the bulbs, described as LES 12v, 1.5w, from Auto Electric Supplies and although they look the same as the originals they simply will not screw into the brass holders.
To be fair to AES they will happily take them back and refund the costs, but I still need the bulbs. AES sent me supposedly Lucas bulbs, but as the guy said on the phone, who knows where they were made. He knows of no other supplier of the bulbs.
So I have two options. I could try easing the brass holders with a small file, or I could get better bulbs from someone else. Does anyone know of a supplier who could get me bulbs that will fit?

If it's any help Mike morris minors and early BMC cars use the same bulb in their indicator stalk. You might stand a chance of getting real ones from a specialist. Lucas part number was LLB280 (i think)

Re: Bulbs for the warning light cluster
I have found a work around on another web site, and it has done the trick. Using a sharp pair of snips, I have split each of the bulb holders and this has given enough freedom for the new bulbs to screw in. They are nice and tight so I think all will be well. The idea came from the classic LED bulb supplier. Apparently his LED bulbs have the same problem because (he says) of standardisation of bulb bases. https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/produc ... 0672&_ss=r I might have bought a set of LED bulbs from him, but he only does them for the later cluster with twin indicator tell-tales, and mine is the earlier version.
Thanks for the responses. I can reassemble the unit now and get the dash back in the car.
