Coil connections

#1 Post by Larry 1300 »

I have installed a rev counter and a hidden switch to immobilise the engine. These are attached to the coil.
I want to disconnect these. Would you tell me the connections that should be on the coil. The power cable attached to the positive. On the negative post I will put the cable that comes out of the distributor on. Should there be any other cables attached to the negative terminal please. I have a Dolomite 1300 (1980)
Thanks
Laurence

Hi Laurence,
I think the 1300 should be the same as my 1850 as regards wiring in this area.

On the negative side of the coil there should be a White/ Black wire only to the coil to the distributor.
The White/ Slate Grey wire to the rev counter should be removed if that is your requirement.
On the Positive side of the coil...I'm not sure if you have the 1850/ Sprint ballasted system.
If you do, then there should be White/ Yellow wire from the starter motor ( to switch the ballast resistor ) plus a Pink / White wire from the ballast resistor, and nothing else.
Good luck with sorting it,
Tony.
