Cleaning up the valve spring retainers, out of the 6 so far, 2 are cracked!!!!

Around the spring locating ring/shoulder.
The engine runs an STR91 cam, and uprated valve springs, as purchased from Moss/triumphtune back in 1994. Engines done less than 5000 miles in this guise, though who knows what mileage the retainers have done.
Is this a "known issue" when running uprated springs?
Whats the solution? I see sprintspeed do titanium ones. Is this the go, or are there other options?
