Twin 45 Weber float level.

#1 Post by 80Sprint »

I know Weber set the float height at 12mm from the factory but is that still the best setting for a Sprint with fast road cam and electric pump ? Also, does anyone know the other measurement of float travel ?

According to Des Hammill's book on Weber and Dellorto carbs the standard shut-off height for Webers is 7.5mm, but he says some models can be specified down as low as 5.5mm.

There are genuine weber manuals that have 8,5mm close and 15mm max open and that will be the correct size. These are for the genuine brass floats. You should measure with the floats hanging and not having the cover upside down.

A filterking should be fitted and set to 0.3 to 0,35 bar fuel pressure using Webers. A lot of electric pumps have twice that pressure giving al sorts of fuel level problems.

Thanks guys. I had already put it back together in the hope is was right. It does seem to run well and has done so for many years but a loose choke promoted a repair and a few further checks. I found the floats were different heights and wanted to remedy that. Looks like I may have to adjust again but after one good run all seems good. I do have a filter king Jeroen but Weber's with plastic floats.
