eyebrows

Have i fitted the club headlight ( inner valance ) repair, in the wrong order ? i now cant fit the eyebrows not enough room the only way i can see fitting the eyebrow now is cut the bottom lip on the outer valance

Yep, such a stupid design! Think it was designed to be fitted with the wing off. But I STILL haven't worked out an assembly sequence that permits the welding of the front upper corner of the wing to the upper outer front panel. If you fit the eyebrow you can't even SEE that joint, let alone weld it and if you weld it first, you can't then get the eyebrow in! You'd have to build the front end as a sub-assembly, starting with the outer front panel welding the wings to that, then adding the eyebrows and finally the inner front panel before loading the whole unit onto the shell.

Can't actually envision a good way of correcting this faux pas.

I have a GPR front end and solved the problem by not fitting them, it was simply impossible with GRP eyebrows under GPR. Don't really see what purpose the eyebrow panel serves anyway.

I have a GPR front end and solved the problem by not fitting them, it was simply impossible with GRP eyebrows under GPR. Don't really see what purpose the eyebrow panel serves anyway.

This is what I did with the Carledo and for the same reason. I messed about for ages trying to make it all go together without any success,seemed like I would need to reduce the eyebrow thickness by about 50% by which time it would be nearly transparent and have no strength whatever. I had a NOS inner front panel that was rigid enough to support the headlights unaided. 11 years of hard use and a couple of minor frontal impacts seem to suggest that I was safe to do it.

Screwed AND glued is the way to go. Get it all aligned and try fitted with screws, when you're happy with it, take it all off, slather the mating surfaces with Tiger seal and screw it back on adding extra screws as needed to make a really solid fix. There may be a couple of spots, like the grille opening, where the hex heads of Tecscrews interfere with correct fitting of the grilles. I just lived with it on the Carledo, replaced the tecscrews with very flat headed tappers on the Dolomega, backed up with spire nuts on the inside, but you COULD, once the Tigerseal is properly set, just remove the tecscrews. Being a belt and braces kind of guy I didn't want to risk it!

How did you fit the GPR front end, glue or bolts ?

Both, I use self tappers to screw the panels to the inner wing and inner valance. However I found it impossible to use that method to fix the wings to GPR outer valance and the edge by the door. So I used glue in those places.

When i fitted my eyebrows, i cut the eyebrow in half long ways, stuck both halves in place using tiger seal, and then fiber glassed the gap
