Dimension of engine mounting point

I want to build an adapter to mount my sprint engine on a stand. Attaching it to the block mounting point on the exhaust side, if that makes sense. Preferably making the adapter before unbolting the engine.

Does anyone have the dimensions, including the spacing and locating of the block mounting holes, on that side? That way I can build the adapter before having to remove the engine mounts. Thanks.

If you can wait until next Saturday, when I'm back at my car, I'm making the same engine mounting bracket I've used the engine mounting bracket for dimensions

I would be surprised if I have it out before next weekend, lost the rear lifting eye.

Oh I found the lifting eye, it is attached to the cylinder head, it is just that particular head isn't attached to the engine.

Thanks for the reply, I now have the engine out, so I have used the actual mounts to get dimensions.

My big problem is my weedy tools, the toy pillar drills from Lidl was at its limit trying to drill holes in my mounting plate.

We will see if my 130Amp mig is man enough to weld it, I bought it for its low power settings and quality wire feed. Not to weld big plates together. Half thought about getting a stick welder, if I can find one cheap.

i used a 130 welder on mine, cause the snap on welder has gone wrong,my 130 was on its highest settings and i double welded it, my plate is 5mm think and box section 3mm thick

It needs to be located on the left (exhaust) side where it is central on the block and then the engine can be rotated. Guess you are just using that place as a template for the holes?

Should look something like these pictures I nicked from James467 post. You can see where he has marked the centre line of the block for the pivot point.

Here's mine, welded on a cheapo MIG 100 amp from Machine Mart.

Looking at that weld, I think your welder might be a bit underpowered for plate of that thickness. If it is holding fair enough but my, as it turns out, 140amp welder was only just up to the task of welding 5mm plate and that was with a V groove to help penetration.

You are probably right. I did V-groove the plate for welding. Fortunately it held and showed no sign of letting go. I can't see it being used again. You just use the tools you possess don't you!
