I am after some help in respect of the pipe that goes from the reservoir to the clutch master cylinder..
My question is should the union that screws into the master cylinder be flush with the top of the cylinder itself? A union on its own seems to screw all the way, but with a flared pipe it doesn’t…. Despite numerous efforts and 3 new pipes it doesn’t seal and continually seeps fluid from around the union…
With the cylinder, slave and main clutch pipe from the master to the slave being new I believe this is the only point at which air can be getting in to prevent bleeding and thus the clutch not working. Unless of course one of these new cylinders is faulty in some manner, and if they potentially are, how would i be able to identify the problem please..
I have had the slave off today and checked it visibly and all seems well and as you would expect with a new slave cylinder..
Any ideas or help appreciated

No, the union should not be able to be fully screwed into the cylinder. The seal relies on the union pressing the flare on the end of the pipe against the chamfer at the bottom of the cylinder thread.

You will find advice on the forum where people have bled the slave away from the gearbox at a higher level with some success.

Aha….
I think you have a “universal” master cylinder,
in which case you need a hosetail and a hose to the reservoir.
(The hosetail needs a copper washer to seal)
Car builder Solutions sell these
Part number BUF (7/16” UNF to 8mm hose)
Part no. BF (7mm brake fluid filler hose, which does fit the 8mm hosetail)

This hosetail/hose solution also works on the original master cylinders.

Just a quick note to thank you both for your help/information on my issue....
I purchased a hose-tail and fitted it recently, leaving it for a few days to check on seepage from the master cylinder... Had a very very small amount so had to tighten a tad further, but now all seems well. Clutch bled as well so issue sorted...
I can say that the use of a hose-tail fitting has seemingly worked for me and is definitely an option for others to try if they encounter similar issues with the standard pipe set up not sealing correctly...
