1850 / TR7 cylinder head differences ?

For everything to do with Dolomites, Toledos, FWD cars and Dolomite-based kitcars.

1850 / TR7 cylinder head differences ?

#1 Post by MIG Wielder »

Are the 1850 and TR7 cylinder heads identical when it comes to the external dimension; i.e. the camshaft studs and the exhaust manifold tappings, and the dimensions of the casting in this area particularly around the timing chain case please ?

The reason I ask is the "1850 Headmaster " is currently on loan to a TR7 owner and it doesn't fit nicely around the front.

I thought the castings were identical ?

Thanks , Tony.

When I used it on my TR7 engine, it fitted fine bar a couple of minor things. The only issue I had was that it would only pull the head up a little way with the engine in the car (but enough to easily get in and cut the studs)

Thanks Clive, that is good info; we'll have to look elsewhere on this one.
Cheers for now,
Tony.
