What colour were the sills painted on an original 1977 1850 please ?
Mine are currently in matt black but I am advised they should be in body colour !

TIA,
Tony.

Pretty sure body colour is normal for 1850 sills of any vintage, the black sills were only on the halo model Sprint!

1850HL promotional brochure shows a car with black sills. Binny (1973 Dolomite) had black sills when James dragged her out of the shed she was found in.
Neither is a definitive answer though!

Yes, I thought that the 1850 HLs had the chrome cill strip with black paint below. I've certainly got pictures of brand new mid-late seventies models with this arrangement.

All 1850s and 1850HLs had matt black sills and bootlid/back panel (enclosed by chrome strips) and also black vinyl back quarter panels.
Sprints had all of this plus a vinyl roof.

The only Dolomites to have body coloured sills were the Dolomite 1300 and base model Dolomite 1500. All the other models had black sills.

My mistake, just checked the pics of Bumpa's highly original 77/8 1850HL and the sills are black below the bright moulding!

I can't say if this changed after the late 78 sill moulding delete (this happened from Sprint comm number VA30000> but don't have a number for the 1850) Sprints kept the black bit, but it seems to cover the entire sill on these late cars.
