1850/Sprint heater boxes.

#1 Post by MIG Wielder »

What is the difference between the 913530 ( 1850 / Sprint ) and the 913534 ( 1500 non HL / 1300 ) heater boxes please ?
For instance is the water-valve the same on both ?
O.K. its an expensive solution to the new water valve or the parts ( RT1228 ).
This heater valve does seem to be unique to the slant 4.
Thanks All,
Tony.

My Dolly 1300 has a tap like the rt1228 kit shown on the Rimmer website.

Mine was leaking out of the gland (where the plunger slides) when I got the car, and I repaired it with some o rings. It seems to be okay after a years use....

There is a difference of an inch or so in the depth of the casing (between bulkhead and dash) between the flat dash and curved dash cars also the curved dash car's heater has the fitment to provide air to the under dash vent that the plank dash car doesn't have. But, AFAIK, the heater radiator and tap that forms part of it are the same on all models.

If you can get the tap apart without breaking it, it's easy to service with a couple of generic rubber O rings as Jim says. In theory it's just a matter of getting to it, removing the operating rod and a single tapping screw in the horseshoe clip and pulling the plunger out.

It's a job I need to do myself as both the Carledo and the ex FWD have their taps stuck firmly in the HOT position! Neither car has a parcel tray fitted, so access is fairish, I just need to find my round tuit!

Thanks very much for your comments and ideas. Of course ! Fitting O-rings to help seal the plunger is a brilliant idea.
Thank you !
Cheers for now,
Tony.
