A few years ago I bought (and fitted) a water pump repair kit. It came with a ceramic rings for the seal to run against, and seems a VERY sensible idea.
I have looked, but I can't find a kit that includes that ceramic ring. Any pointers as to where I might find either the ring or a complete seal kit?

Ah, that is a shame.
I am tempted to make a brass or stainless ring up, something that is going to be more corrosion resistant than the cast iron.
