Fuel Pump replacement

#1 Post by WoodleySaint »

Hi,

One of the multitude of parts I need to replace on my 1980 Sprint restoration is the fuel pump. I naively bought a Quinton Hazell pump (QFP33) from eBay and went to fit it when it was immediately obvious it wasn't going to fit.

The original pump has 7990047 on the rocker arm. I read on the forum that you need a spacer which is £28.50 on Rimmers! https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-UKC8523

Would the QFP32 model of pump work on my Sprint or will I need to bite my lip, swear a bit, and buy the spacer? Also is UKC8523 the correct spacer?

Thanks Mark

That is the correct spacer...but I'm currently investigating getting some laser cut in aluminium (along with blanking plates for those who choose to fit electric pumps) with the hope of significantly reducing that cost (they add £5 p&p on top of that!) for Club members

Dodged a bullet not fitting the QH pump.
Been chasing weird fueling issues for a while, I'd discounted the pump seeing as it was brand new.
Turns out it's putting out 10psi. Bit much!

I've found another supplier, quite a bit cheaper and I'd like to try and get the engine started:
https://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/fuel-pum ... ter-1500-2, £14.25

So from what Oli_88 says, I shouldn't fit the Quinton Hazell pump....

What would you recommend?

Thanks for all the guidance.

I fitted the QH33 pump to my Sprint 18 months ago without problem

Thanks for the reply. It will save me having to return the pump to the eBay supplier.

Just for info, I bought the spacer from James Paddock, link above, the price was without VAT and delivery, so ended up costing £23.

Having the spacer as a part in the TDC spares list would be a great addition.
