I think I recall the manufacturer folding 20+ years ago as the industry changed to silicone sealants.

Blue Hylomar is still widely available and they used to do a red version called Hylotyte if you prefer seeing a red ooze as you torque down rather than a blue one...

Have you used Threebond .I used regulary on 2 stroke engines good stuff.
I found the silicone ones tend to spue out and nothing left behind on the gasket.

I remember red Hermetite and not fondly either! If I had a pound for every hour I spent scraping the wretched stuff off some mating surface or other once it had set rock hard, I could have retired at 30! I'm GLAD it's not available any more!

I use whatever silicone sealant the factors send me. Or I get really cheap and buy the bathroom stuff from the wholesalers about £1 a big tube. I only buy speciality stuff if the application doesn't normally have a gasket at all.

That's the whole point, what you don't need spills out and you only use what's needed to make a seal and wipe the rest off. Of course, if you ARE using far too much (most do) on something like a sump gasket, the other half of the too much you used ends up in the sump and the oil strainer, not the best idea!

Most gasket applications need only a light smear, not half a tube!
