i've either read on here or on magazine pages on ebay that its possible to get a sprint down too a 5.1 -0_60 .

if this is possible can anyone give me the mechanical run down of the engine and running gear , plus stopping power of this kind of set up.

with that kind of spec i may be happy ( until i manage to kill myself).

lob a rover 3.5 V8 in and you will get pretty close....the TVR engined one if it had've been finished would have blitzed that I am sure...

I know putting in more powerful , reliable modern engines in seems to be the way too go , but i believe i have most parts to get somewhere near to a 5.5 -6.0 time , just want to know how it was achieve with the sprint lump.

i know darren ( alg1k ) had 155hp at the wheels with the sprint lump , so what kind of times would that have achieved .

Depending how much you want to change on the car. One chap in Germany runs his Sprint including the Sprint engine in a free racing class. He got the title last year and the 3.0 liter Porsche 911 RSR's with their 300hp have really trouble to catch him on the track. Experts think his Sprint engine provides something like 280hp in the actual state and is still reliable on the track. All the rest is weight reduction even if the external view on the car might satisfy not every bodies taste. You can take a look on his Sprint here: http://www.sprint-racing.de. Just go to "Gallerie" and take a look on the car and it's engine.....

holger's , have seen this car before but did not know it had 280 bhp, thought 240 was the highest achieved from the sprint engine.

not sure i like the spoiler but i dont think the rest looks to bad for a dolly.

mine is supposed to be 160 ish (according to Lewis!) and something like 7.5 secs to 60 I think. Changed carbs, lightened flywheel, improved fuel delivery.

its all to do with your suspension and how it transmits the power to the ground,
If you fitted a ladder bar rear set up like the drag racers use and then get some really sticky wider tyres,
You would also really need to change your front anti roll bar to stop the lean of the body when you accelerate thus keeping all the transfered weight over both rear tyres and not leaning over onto one and lightning up the other
Its horses for courses though
Ie it wont go round corners very well

Was just about to jump in and say it's not down to power necessarily but if and how you can put that power to use - weight, to a lesser effect aerodynamics, are important also.

You could put a cone on the front like the daytona dodge chargers. lol

there are some cones surrpounding a hole just down the road, I can grab you one if you promise to put it on your car (not on your head as most people do!!)

There was the article in Classics several years ago; lad from north midlands IIRC was running a french blue car which was sub six to sixty; seriously reduced frontal area, deseamed, no handles, no spoiler etc and then with blue printed engine with all the whistles and bells. I have the article somewhere, will dig it out and post...

My race car gives nearly 200 bhp at the wheels & a 4.1 diff & will do 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds, closer to 5. Providing I stop the wheels spinning. Traction control?

This is just stunning. 100bhp / ltr is one hell of a feat but to have that at the wheels is .... words fail me! You must be knocking on the door of double the standard engine output. Hells bells!
