Indicator Stalk Problems

#1 Post by Leeds Sprint »

Hello All

I need a replacement indicator/dipped beam/horn stalk for my 1978 Dolomite 1850.

The plastic structural parts that support the contacts for the dipped and highbeams are cracked and a bit melted! This is preventing the system from getting a good contact when I switch the headlights on, making for intermitant functioning. In particular my dipped beams don't want to come on when the rotary dial is selcted to the correct position. The high beams work fine however.

I have cleaned and tightened the contacts a couple of times now but the plastic bits that hold them together are looking a bit fragile now, and I don't think I will be able to get the switch on the stalk to work properly again.

Do the TDC or any memebrs have a spare Indicator stalk that I can purchase?

The one on Rimmer Brothers is really expensive (£71 inc VAT).

Quiller Part

I'm still on the hunt for a replacement indicator stalk.

Quiller Triumph have quoted me a price of £26 for a "working used" part.

Does this sould like a good price to anyone?

Thanks

Not bad

Doesn't sound bad, have you tried Wins?

May not be cheaper but I know who I'd trust.

may be worth piching one up from triumph land, etc. A lot of bl cars of the era used same stalk

never was the best of Lucas products.

As an off chance, you could try the triumph chap who lives near Leicster who's name I can't remember! (does a lot of fwd stuff)

I have a s/h one I bought off Adam as part of his pre-university fund.

Gave him £15 for it which I thought reasonable. Yours at cost plus postage
