Project Patch!!

#1 Post by Dave »

Hi all,

Thought i'd share a couple of piccys of Patch with you.

Now before you look remember i'm just a lorry driver that has NEVER done anything like this before, infact before i bought Patch the nearest i got to a spanner was passing one to Dad as a kid :D

Got a long way to go, but here's where we're at so far:

The day i bought him home..

This was how he looked before Christmas last year..

And these were took today showing him off in his current guise..

I'm currently in the process of trying to change jobs again, to hopefully give me a bit more time at home so summer evenings can be spent up the garage..
The things we do for our cars eh!! :D

Nice work. I was in the same boat, never done anything like a full restoration, never welded, never painted, never made any trim, but OK with a spanner. So I'm now a self taught welder/painter/trimmer (jack of all trades, certainly master of none), and after 5 very long years, the result is a nice solid car, not concourse but the satisfaction of doing it yourself is reward enough.
Keep up the good work, and remember bleeding knuckles heal.

Looks nice Si, it's bleemin hard work on your own, especially when you haven't the foggiest what your doing :D

Not attempting the welding thing myself either TBH, scared it will all end in tears as the garage goes up in smoke :D Will have a go at the spraying though :D

Right then, bit of an update :D

Got a bit bored with bodywork so decided i'd have a go at stripping the infamous wheels down.. well, one of them at least :D

Before...
Image

After.. with still loads to do..
Image

But then the cavalry arrives in the form of Nathan :D
Image
Image

And while he's inside all warm & dry, MWK is outside getting a bit wet!!
Image

I'd like to take credit for the superb job of reshaping this wheel arch, but i dont think Nath would be best chuffed  Top Job mate, well pleased...
Image
Image

Suppose i'd better let him have a breather for a minute now then  I'm good to my staff you know
Image

Got the doors back temporarily for some of the treatment too
Image

Front wing is shaping up very nicely too..
Image

As is the rear quarter..
Image

And after all this hard work i suppose i'd better let them go home..
Image

Top job today Nath, we got loads done, had a giggle and i even learnt a few things :D

Thanks

Glad we got a good few hours in on patch, really enjoyed today, gave me a little break from Tessa which was good!!
(MWK wont talk to me now as she got all wet)

I was really happy with the rear arch, went in really well!!

Patch is alot better car than he looks, very solid with only minor work needed, remember the deadline...September 7th!!

Once iv got Tessa and MWK sorted Ill be able to throw a good few hours at patch and get him on the road!!

Ken, I shall reply to your E-mail tomorrow mate, sorry i havent been in touch for a while!!
