Where's it coming from?

#1 Post by Triumph1300 »

BUD is leaking water into the footwells, only when it rains, never when blasted with a hose, or jetwash.
It's clean water, coming from the top.
The following has already been done:
Plenum drains cleared
Eyeball vent pipes glued on
Windscreen removed, and resealed. Some rust was found on the screen lip, but the lip was intact, rust removed, and primed/hammerited.

To be done:
Silicon wiper grommets.

The water is coming from somewhere in the screen surround area, as evidenced by water running down the eyeball vent tubes.

I'm going to take the glovebox, and dash out for another look, but would appreciate any comments, as this is getting seriously annoying!!

PS Happy New Year to everyone!

Had a similar problem, found water getting past the window wiper mounts, check the rubbers to see if there perished, you used to be able to get a overhaul kit at one time.

I have the same problem. If its windy, I get water in the pasenger footwell, if not, just the drivers....I'll be using your list of 'already done' as my start point!

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I've had BUD's windscreen "profesionally" removed, and re-sealed. Reason for paying for the job is due to stabbing my left hand fingers with a screwdriver whilst converting the carbs to non waxstat, and still being unable to grip properly with my left hand.
Why is it when I pay people to do things, they cock it up?
I've just been outside, taping the seal up, as the screen is not re-fitted properly!

Oh well, another argument for tomorrow I guess!
