Bushes
Bushes
Hello All
I know this has been the subject of threads on the old forum, but I can't find any mention of it when I search any of the the new threads.
What sort of Bushes should I get for my 1850 if I want to get a balance of handling and a comfortable ride?
I heard there are bushes that are rated as "touring"? Where is a good place to buy this type of bushes?
Thanks
Chris

i reckon they all vary slightly from make to make. each manufacturer will probably use slightly different density or grade of polyurethane, and for what its worth i'd suggest using the same brand all through.
jigsaw have their own, witor ones are popular, mine came from rimmers (the softer Deflex ones, but still much firmer than the rubber ones) but unless they've changed the front top wishbone ones, they dont fit, but if you speak to Garth he has a solution). you'd also be well advised to get the front anti roll bar ones that dont come in the rimmers 'complete set', but rimmers do offer them separately - I'm sure theres some irony in there somewhere!
havent tackled the back yet, but im told the trailing arm ones are a bitch... all will be revealed...

Garth (speedracer) Newton, you mean? I used to chat with him occasionally via Skype, but he doesn't seem to be online any more. He's the "TriumphOwners.com" webmaster isn't he?
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years.

My 1980 Sprint has poly bushes front and rear.
With the lowered springs and Spax shocks, it is the most incredible handling Triumph I have ever driven, and that includes all the TRs I've owned.
The downside: You feel and hear every bump in the road. But I'd say the tradeoff is worth it. I plan to install poly bushes in my 1977 Sprint and in my TR7 Sprint.
The last set of bushes I bought came from Sprintparts in Australia. It was a very complete set that fit well. I would recommend them to anyone.
Cheers,
Richard Truett

SuperFlex Bushes
Hello All
In September I made an effort to try and get a price comparison between Rimmer Brothers and SuperFlex Bushes.
I know that the Rimmers ones are not particularly well regarded by the club, but they do have a price for a bush kit on their website that. They are charging £159 +VAT for their Kit.
The Superflex website has a list of prices for individual bushes, but there is no price for a kit.
I emailed Chris Witor to get a price for the Superflex Kit. He did reply and said that the SuperFlex ones were significantly better then the Rimmers ones, but he did not quote me a price for a SuperFlex kit.
I want to do a complete rebush, and am looking for a full kit. Has anyone done a full rebush of their Dolomite with Chris Witor's SuperFlex bushes.
How much should I expect to spend?
Thanks
Chris

List of Bushes
Thanks Holger and Neil
Do I need to buy each of the items on the Superflex bush list? I can't figure out which items are requred and which ones are options for sport suspension.
I know its a bit of a pain in the arse, but can one of you post a list of the names and quantities all the bushes required to rebush a Dolomite?
I'll be useing the list to help me place my order.
Thanks

Depending on your car you have to choose the correct ones. If you have stock shocks, take the proper bushes for the stock shocks. If you have Koni in your Dolly, order the Koni related bushes. On each item there should be a note if it would be only for a special model and how much of these you will need for the whole car. Proberbly the best is to call Chris Witor directly next week and sort it out via the phone as he knows what you need depending on your setup. I was also in trouble when ordering some weeks ago. For example one of the most important bush I need is CRC360 which does not show up on the Superflex list at all. After my call with Chris it turned out that he has another number for it and the part is on the complete set included.
