Hi folks, just thought id introduce myself im John Turnbull ive just taken over the vacant Motorsport Registrar position. I run a rally spec sprint the usual mods sump guard, spots, adjustable suspension etc, using it mostly for night road rallying and the nescro series classic rallying competition. So hope to get some reports and pics in Dolly mixture and on forum when season starts. So a big HELLO!
Cheers mate i usually sit in the left seat but since ive got the sprint up to scratch have started to drive a bit, the rallys i do are like your southern endurance events but up here we still have a lot of night events. The usual contenders in historic classes are Escorts, Minis, The odd Morris and Vivas, oh and my Dolly.but on the daytime classics theres allsorts mainly Escorts and MG Midgets. Check out the Nescro site itll tell you more (North East and Scotland Classic Rallying Organisation).
Does anyone else use their Dolly like this? if not why their world beaters when their on song
I've just started getting into rallying, after a few years of 'off and on' marshaling at circuits.
I'd be interested in hearing more about your motor club John, as I'm also in Yorkshire.
So far I've done a couple of Autosolos (like an Autotest but forward gears only) in my dad's 998 Micra project (hoping to become a Formula1000 car) as a member of Accrington Motor Club (I'm originally from Lancashire).
Fancy getting out to see more rallying (followed the RAC from start to finish a couple of weeks ago). I've been checking out http://www.anwcc.org/ but if you could tell me more about whats going on, I'd really appreciate it.
Good Man! ive never done an autotest but we put them on within our club, thats Beverley and District Motor club. you really need a small car to do them, but our cars are very well suited to classic and road rallying. i use mine in the ANCC and ANEMCC championships, some of the rounds cross over with ANWCC and the events attract up to 50 cars modern and historic. Most historics come out in Derbyshire i usually compete in the Lincolnshire rounds its kinder on the car Derbyshire is a bit rough. Recently ive been entering the NESCRO rounds they run during the day and have tests in them more suited to classics, different clubs stage events from scotland to round about nottingham. Well worth having a shot at but you need someone to sit next to you and read the maps otherwise youll be snookered
Cheers for the interest. if can help anymore let me know
I used to do autotests in my dolly before I broke it. The autotests over here are a little different to traditional ones, mostly due to the sorts of cars our (iowcc) members have, they're forward only (bike engined cars tend not to have a reverse) and are fairly open and suited to modern cars. That said caterham type things seem to be the car to have at the moment.
