Washer Pump

#1 Post by RodR »

Hi

My washer pump stopped pumping a while ago. I've checked the electrics and that seems OK. The pump is mounted on the bulkhead behind the bottle. It's not obvious how it is fixed; any tips for getting it out?

Any suggestions for a good replacement. Rimmers have got a couple of options, I guess Halfords will have universal units...

Cheers

Two types, one mounts on the lid of the resevoir, the other is rivetted onto the resevoir bracket which is in turn screwed to the bulkhead with two self tappers, one of which is awkward to access.

You can disassemble the motor by pulling back the three peenings and clean up the brushes etc, but they are never the same again. Try also blowing through the pipes to see if they are blocked

smitch the pump on and try gently tapping it, it often gets them back into life. They get seized and sometimes it realeases them. I had the same problem with a Rolls Royce Silver shadow, they used lucas pumps too.

halfrauds used to sell one type that looked very similar to the bulkhead mounted one. However they don't seem to sell anything useful anymore but you may be in luck. Keep meaning to buy one for stock.
