You would only need a very small amount of oil down the valve stem to cause blue smoke. The reason you only get the blue smoke on idle is because the throttle butterflies are closed ...

st vented disc kit

My race car has the group 1 stub axle set up & AP racing group 2 brakes . I did all this in 1988 when I built it The complete set up with remade stub axles cost me around £1,000. Nowadays I can do a 4 piston vented disc kit for a lot less than that. But not using original wheels. The size of the ...

Re: Spring Rate's

When I built my car in '88 I ran 600 front 200 rear. When i bought the car back it still had this set up. I could not make tha car handle as it used to. In the 90's Dunlop changed the construction of the D84J tyre we all ran. I played with sprng rates some more & am now running 480 Front, 160 rear ...

Re: Thats the set up I've got on my track day car

The caliper spacer is the easy part. the hard part is the stub axle, as well as being longer they also have a larger diameter thread on the outer end, cannot remember whether this is 9/16 or 5/8 unf, I can check. I have these stub axles on my racer, or rather new ones made to the original spec ...

Re: No webers but....

The original Group 1 set up consisted of vented discs, the same diameter as the original, the original calipers, spaced to accept the vented disc longer stub axles to allow for the extra thickness of the disc. I used to have an original set of these but stupidly I disposed of them otherwise I could ...

toledo-circuit racing

Hi all. I would suggest that before you get carried away with too many mods you should find a series & carefully read the regulations first. Far better to build the car to comply with a written set of regulations than build a car & look for a series that will allow your car in. You may find all your ...

Re: oil feed problems.

hi, you need to use 5/8" bore pipe. Ensure all your fittings & cooler are also of suitable size. Minimum 19 row cooler. You only need to use a good quality 20/50 motor oil. I use Millers Classic Sport. Maximum oil temperature should be no more than 115 degrees centigrade.

Re: oil feed problems.

If you had been suffering oil surge then of course this can lead to bearing failure. However you should notice marks on all the other shells as well.<br>

I have to say that if there are no other witness marks on the other shells then I would suspect the ingress of a foreign body (dirty build ...

Re: Re Groovy Baby !!

I use Aldon Automotive. I used to use Trevor Shaw in daventry but unfortunately he died 18 mths ago. The figures at Aldon & Trevor are exactly the same on my car. 195 BHP @wheels. 200+ next year.
