Re: re: write off!

Repair it!

I had a rear end shunt 18 months ago and the hassle was a hassle. The car was written off by indureres and I took the £2k and kept the car. Repairs cost less than £2k. Lots of fun with the DVLA to get it retaxed.
Re: None taken...

I am sure Alun will have plans in hand when a change in manufacturer becomes necessary - have confidence in him. And maybe wait till he has some room in his garage.
My 1850 never reads above 50 or below 35. Within tollerance?
Re: voltage stabiliser

Get one!

I spent months trying to sort out over-heating. This included many times letting the engine cool down in lay-bys and also replacing my 1850 rad with sprint item. When I changed the voltage regulator I deiscovered it was not overheating at all. Put your mind at rest!

Re: Boot lock....

If you have a boot lock mechanism without a key, you can usually find the key number stampted somewhere on the block. They seem to be in the FS series so just add FS in front of the 3 digits on the bloack. Last time I lost a key Moss had a fairly full set of FS keys at next to nothing.
OD gear lever

Why do people need the whole lever/knob/electrics?

Only the switch fails and that can be sourced (albeit at inflated price). Refurbish the rest of what you have.
Funny money (again)

This has to be funny money for what is essentailly a switch. The switch is the only thing that goes wrong - u can refurbish the rest of the knob.
