Re: Cylinder head skimming and Timing
I worked it out on a bmw head I had skimmed. The changes were miniscual and not worth worrying about. Head was only skimmed 4 thou though. If the head has like 20+ thou of it it may change things. I eventually had the slots on my bmw cam sprockets elongated to give +- 6 degree of change due to ...

Gearbox mount
Had a similar problem with my sprint. Take off caused the gearbox/propshaft to wobble quite badly and at idle the engine would lurch about.

I changed the gearbox mount and the problem has now gone away. The sprint has a different mount to the 1850. Mine seems to have been softened due to ...

Gearbox rebuild
Jod

Thanks for the advice. I really am considering having mine rebuilt as it only has 62k miles on it and I just don't know what I would get from a recon box. Any suggestions on who could rebuild my sprint box for me?
I know it may cost more than the 175 quoted by Fitchetts but I want ...

Jumping out of 3rd gear
My Sprint keeps jumping out of 3rd gear on overun.
Also 2nd is more difficult to engage than any other gear and 3rd to 4th crunches if I take it fairly quickly. Looking to have an exchange gearbox unit from TD Fitchett (£175 inc VAT) which seems reasonable.
So what cam should I go for?

STR091? Are they available. I am after good driveability with a buzz to the top end. I have a big daft old M6 BMW which has hairy cams in it and not much happens below 4500 but things go crazy after this. Looking for somethings a bit more subtle in power ...

Gee. That is low. Not 3 inch for me then. Maybe 1 inch.

I swear my sprint sits much higher than your your last photo. Maybe it has incorrect springs on it now.

Thanks for the input.

Unsuitable for road use.
Jonners

Can you expand a bit here. Why would it become unsuitable on the road - speed bumps, snappy handling etc?

I look at my standard sprint set up and it looks like a drop of around a foot is in order. An exageration maybe but it just looks daft at the moment.
Thanks
