or am I missing something?" - Hmmm methinks you should have another look - its just the mounts.

Well done Smifter - good pics - (not too worried about pretty welds for a track car, but they could be a little bit neater) I do like the easily adjustable anti-roll bar, and oil cooler mounts, and big sump, and side exit exhaust, and manifold and...
bar

#26 Post by Dave » Tue Sep 30, 2003 8:24 pm

Looking at that set up, it looks like you have an option of two positions, the two small holes, in the plate at the lower arm end. then the plate is welded to a straight tube which is mounted via blocks to the original roll bar mountings on the subframe. Does that sound right?
That tube is a LOT thicker than the standard bar any Idea how much Smifter?

Exhaust

#27 Post by Stephen Grellet » Tue Sep 30, 2003 9:40 pm

What a great looking manifold. I hope it works as well as it looks. Just one comment re the anti roll bar. The pickup point on the lower arm is too close to the suspension pivot points and will not be very effectivedue to the limited movement it will see. Ideally the pickup should be mounted at the outer ball joints. I have extended the top arm spring brackets and mounted the pick up there.

Dave - I think the bar was about 30mm ish diameter.

Stephen - I'd be interested in seeing any pics of your roll bar pick up. Presumably the extension is off the triangular plate??

Good point Stephen hadn't noticed that it didn't use the same mounting point at the outer end. Odd to go to all that trouble and move the attachment inboard. Whats that on the end of the bar as well some sort of rubber donut?

Not trying to be too thick here, <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> but what has this setup achieved over the std setup ?
