little tin can with 2 connectors screwed to the bulkhead. dark green wires should be at battery voltage, pale green ones should be at 10v.<br>

Aye, voltage stabiliser is located on the bulkhead just under the lip of the cavity like things that leaves fall into. Hey, its hot and I can't think straight. Ten second job to exchange. Just remember to disconnect the battery first. Easy peasy - even I could do it.

Hi,does this also control the fuel guage as on more modern cars,my reason for asking is I ran out of fuel yesterday with the needle showing between 0 and 1/4,shouldnt have ignored fuel light I know,but on wifes car,fuel light only comes on when in red.<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :o --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br>

Some of you have mentioned how electrical issues can affect cooling. <br>
<br>
My Voltage gauge is reading 14.5 volts. Is that too high? Would that contribute to overheating at all?<br>

You need the voltage coming from the light green wire feed to the instruments, which comes from the voltage stabilsier as shown in Marts photo. Even though your volt guage reads 14.5, a normal reading form your alternator, thats no guarantee the stabilser is working as it should. If you turn all your lights, wipers and hrw and heater fan on you will see the volt meter reading drop...<br>
hence the need for the stab so yor instruments read as they should.<br>

Okay. I have fitted a new voltage stabiliser. Maybe this will reduce some of the cooling problems I have been having lately. <br>

Earlier in this thread there was a comment that the voltage stabiliser ensures that there is a steady 10 volts. But can anyone tell me why an engine runs hot if the voltage stabiliser is not working properly? <br>

In you picture of the stabiliser there is a white cable with a read connector. My car does not have this cable. Where does it go to? And should I have one too?<br>
