I'm always skint too.. But if you've got an engine crane and spare bit of drive for a day or so.. Then how'd you like few beer tokens (not many as I ain't got many though!) for me to hire your "facilities" to drop that 1300 in my auto? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> I haven't found a cheap hoist yet, am loathed to hire one for 50 quid for the week, and even more loathed to do the engine swap near the garage where my 1300 got trashed, in case I don't get it done in a day <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

Katy's old 1300 lump should be a good one, and I did get seats too, but it was still a long drive (although had a good laugh and a coffee, so not all bad <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> ).

Got any beige seats from an HL/ 1850? Can p/x for beige Dolly 1300 seats in good nick - Got them for the fwd, but found out I need to drill the floor to fit them <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

2000 o/d into 1500??

#20 Post by BDN712V » Wed Feb 11, 2004 7:37 pm

Found one on e-bay and am wondering whether it is feasible or not, as I am unable to trace any part numbers to check whether they match up...
Errr....

The short answer is I dont know but it may not be easy.
The T2000 box is the large car box as fitted to Sprints.
If the bell housing lines up with the 1500 end plate u may well be in luck. But then will it pick up with the cross member? Maybe cos a Sprint box uses the same one IIRC. Also it may have the older A type overdrive.
Prop shaft sliding joint may not have enough reach.
The input spline count may mean you cant get a plate that fits your flywheel. You may need a Sprint tunnel to go over it.
If its near you and cheap enough it may be worth a try.
The std o/d box fits a Spit so prices are inflated. If this one fits you will have a bomb proof box If it doesnt you can always sell it again to a TR6 owner...
If it has the A type overdrive and it works it is worth a minimum of £300 to a TR owner!!

Doesn't honestly look as though it would fit too well, but hen again, it's been a while since my gearbox was out of the car...
engine removal

#24 Post by thebouncingbunny » Fri Feb 20, 2004 6:52 pm

silvery.unfortuanately i cant offer you any drive space for engine removal-i usually do this sort of thing at my parents.i cant see me mum being too chuffed.she nearly had me guts fer garters over the last one.as for engine hoist i usually hire one from crecent auto center in weymouth.£12 a day but you have to pick it up.its big and wont fit in a dolly boot.i reckon if you hired it on a sat youd get it till mon tho.the guys name down there is dwain.he's pretty reasonable.tell him you know his window cleaner and you might swing the weekend thing(winks knowingly)bunny
if you get stuck i may be able to give you a hand if i'm about

Hoist

#25 Post by Silvery » Fri Feb 20, 2004 7:16 pm

Cheers for that <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

I went to the local hire place, it's about 50 quid for a week... No chance of doing any "deals" on that either...

Will have to try and sort out somewhere to do it, or leave it a few weeks until I'm not so new here, that way the neighbours might just let me get away with it in the car park!

I should be able to get the job done fairly quickly on my own, didn't have a problem last time, and that time I took the auto lump out, the manual lump out, looked at the ends of the cranks (wanted to simply put the good engine out the manual in the auto), gave up, tried to get the auto lump back in, couldn't, took the lump and box out sort of loosely bolted together to lift them, piddled about a bit more, dropped the box on the engine, dropped it back in, etc. All in all alot of stuff I won't be doing this time, alot of time wasted working things out, and not much actual time with spanners.

Tomorrow I'm going to be trying to move a large 3 seater sofa with my 1500 auto... If I can manage that, then who says I can't get a hoist in the boot... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Oh, and come summer if I've got a bit of cash, might still be looking for a few bits, if you want to clear some space and get a bit of beer money? Mail me on triumph1500tc at yahoo.co.uk if you want <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
