Battery in the boot

Mine is on a Mercedes Benz Battery Tray to go with the Mercedes battery,<br>
<br>
Battery tray is then welded to the panel (814743 in the dolomite parts manual) that goes between top shock mount's,<br>
Theres also a couple of brace bars to support the Battery tray as well,<br>
Possibly not the best place in the world but allows nearly full use of boot,<br>
<br>
If you need a piccie let me now.<br>
I would run the Sprint up to you to look<br>
But that M25.<br>

Dumb question probably but we're talking about fairly chunky cable. Also pretty important cable carrying high current. How do you route it safely to/from the back and in what way do you connect it to the loom?<br>

The sprint still has a remote mounted starter solenoid (doesn`t it) you just need some nice thick chunky battery cable to run from the positive on the battery to one side of the starter solenoid, it`s just a case of replacing the existing cable with something long enough to go from the boot to the start solenoid. I don`t have a sprint but i`m just going on the basic starter/battery wiring arrangements.

Sorry Andy, I've just got this image in my head of a little tiny person wandering around a battery box in the back of a boot!<br>

As said, better weight distribution. The environment isn't quite as hostile either which must help battery life a little??<br>

it has something to do with being the easiest bit to move when all space up front gets used for something else!!

having the battery in the boot also makes room for the oil cooler to go beside the rad so no drastic new holes needed.

My Battery was purely put in the Boot because there was NO room up front,<br>
Battery cable's was easy to do Mercedes Battery cable's (Now there's a suprise you never knew I use to work for Merc's)<br>
Positive power routed inside car to starter motor live.<br>
Negative Earth bolted straight to the body in the boot,<br>
<br>
(I also have a Oil Cooler to be fitted)

Yup, better weight distribution, longer battery life and also that fact that i've got a dirty grat big 4WD battery which wouldn't fit in the front end!<br>

+ive lead routed under car in couduit.<br>
-ive lead goes to rear bumper mounting bolt<br>

redalan - if the oil cooler is mounted to the right of the rad, where to your hoses to the airbox go?<br>

I was hoping to put it on the driver (UK car) side in the boot.<br>
<br>
Then I'd have the battery, driver, fuel tank & passenger in each corner.<br>
<br>
Where can I get get cheap cable from ? it seems to be quite expensive.
