1850 Water Pump

#1 Post by Chris T » Mon Feb 02, 2004 9:09 pm

Not having a draw hammer to remove the pump, can I do it without it, by improvisation? Can anyone talso tell me what is the difference between the two tools supllied by Rimmer, apart from cost, as one is a budget version. Is the one pictured in the catalogue the dearer one?
Appreciate some help.
Took a six vane pump out of Sprint lump in 10 mins at the weekend with no slide hammer. Locked the jackshaft, with a bar, yes the timing cover was off, undid the water pump bolt, taking care that its a left hand thread, put a penny washer under the bolt and did it back up, then used two levers as best you can either side (a couple of pry bars with assorted bits and pieces) and just pushed down on the handles. Pop, one pump out, including the cage.
p.s. That the engine was out and I'd already taken the head off does make it a wee bit easier.....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> But I have taken the pump out in situ in the same manner, just a bit more swearing...
