Fantastic job, as usual, James.
I'm really getting the urge to restore another car, I just need more space.

Re: Safe way to put holes in headlining for fixings
Same as oily66, I had the headlining installed, felt the area through the headlining to find the correct spot, then used a small extremely sharp knife (scalpel or craft knife) to make the hole, was straight forward and problem free. One the headlining is installed it's best to fit glass right away a...

Re: Door outer weather strips.
I got my weather strips and clips from Chris Witor, they worked fine together, and Chris has a reputation for selling parts that actually fit.

Re: Toledo speedo over reads considerably but odometer accurate
Thanks Steve. You're right, it could have always been like that. The speedo in my Stag is very accurate so I just assumed it should be better. Mind you the Stag speedo wobbles a fair bit at low speeds, whilst the Toledo one is perfectly smooth! I'm sure Speedy Cables are well qualified, I just don't...

Re: Toledo speedo over reads considerably but odometer accurate
Has the gearbox been changed at any point? It could have the wrong drive gear in the box. I don't think so, but if it happened, it happened before 1982 when the car was last on the road. It's got the correct DG box and if I recall correctly with a number in the right kind of ball bark as the engine...

Re: Toledo speedo over reads considerably but odometer accurate
First thing I would do is test another speedo' head to confirm that is where the issue is, preferably a known good one... Probably a good idea. Does anyone have a known good used Toledo speedo for sale? :) Fitchetts have a NOS one but at over £100 with no intention of using it later I'd rather not ...

Toledo speedo over reads considerably but odometer accurate
Hi, Since getting the Toledo back on the road a few years ago the speedo over reads by a considerable margin, e.g. at 60mph GPS the speedo indicates 80mph. At lower speeds the over read still exists but is smaller. The car is completely standard. The odometer seems to be very accurate. Is there anyt...

An excellent day out, nice to meet everyone as usual. Thanks to Marshall for the work on the club stand, as Matt says the new gazebo and signage looks great and very professional.

Hi Marshall, hoping to be there although I'm flying back from the USA the previous day, so it's dependent on not being too exhausted.

Re: Sprint Propshaft thoughts
Don't know about east London but if you can travel around the M25 a bit (near Heathrow) Propshaft Services at Dockwells Estate, Central Way, Feltham TW14 0RX sorted out my Toledo propshaft including the joints, bearings, and balancing it. Was happy with the service that they provided.

Re: 1971 2 door Toledo - a very long hibernation
Thank you Steve for the suggestion, I'll try that if the webbing doesn't work out. I also finally got around to implementing Steve's other suggestion of an anti-rollbar! I got the parts from Alun a year ago from one of his Dolomite Sprint projects, but only just got around to cleaning them up and pa...

Re: 1971 2 door Toledo - a very long hibernation
I discovered that the modern pieces of rubber that I'd put on the door check straps had fallen to pieces and was not cushioning the door when fully open. I looked at the original door check straps and found that it was some layers of some kind of black fabric. I was hoping to reuse these but they we...

Re: 1971 2 door Toledo - a very long hibernation
I've not updated this in a few years but I've now completed around 3000 miles since restoration and have completed a few other jobs on the car since. The webbing in the back of the seats was falling to pieces causing the seat cover to move around the 2 door tilt mechanism, so something had to be don...

Re: Too Many Facebook sites?
Hi Steve, It's a great point to raise. There are a lot of Facebook groups. It's very easy to make a Facebook group, and anyone can create one in seconds at the click of the button. The club can't control what Facebook groups people create, but what it can do is to make it as (almost) as easy to join...
