Alternator charging circuit.
A warning to LED bulb enthusiasts. I have heard a story of a TR6 owner who, prior to a trip to Europe, replaced the warning light bulb with an LED one. End result: A tow home. It appears that the LED, due to it's different resistance to an incandescent bulb, effectively broke the charging circuit ...

Subframe mount dimensions
Hello there;
Before I start welding my new n/s chassis leg into place, can anyone confirm the dimensions between the subframe mounting points? I have kept as close as I can to the traces of the old one. However it appears that the distance between the front and rear points is appx. 22" from centre ...

Dolomite 1500 rear axle
Hi
A technical question.
Is the Dolomite/Marina rear axle pinion a collapsible spacer type arrangement?
I have a noise from mine which appears on light throttle cruising and goes away when accelerating. I have read it may be that the pinion bearings are not pre loaded and can be fixed by tightening ...

Re: Yikes!
The plasma is way better than an angle grinder in confined spaces. You have to make sure there is nothing flammable behind the piece you are cutting. I shielded everything with some steel.

Yikes!
Well, what started off as a hole in the chassis leg soon grew legs. Chipping away the sound deadening in the footwell revealed this horror story.
Plenty of work ahead here!
The Lidl plasma cutter worked well, I just had to make sure anything flammable was removed or shielded.

Chassis Box Sections
My SE is seriously sick around the n/s Subframe mounting area. It looks like I will have to make up a new section for it. Can anyone tell me the gauge of the steel used for these box sections?

Re: Exhaust woes
Sorted.
Went to a scrapyard, found an exhaust off a 1990 Micra, and welded the expansion box in to the old system. Looks good, sounds good, and will keep the wolf from the door for a while!
