Re: Tolly Sprint

Welcome back, @2Toledos :D

I'm an occasional visitor on here and still have a Toledo lurking, too.

Re: Tolly Sprint

Chris bought various bits from me (probably 10+ years ago!) and told me he was building up a white 2dr. Do you know whether Tara is still with us?

Re: Tolly Sprint

Is that Chris, (?), '2Toledos' 2dr? He of 'Tara in a Spin'?

Re: Looking for different wheels? A warning!

I've had numerous sets of different wheels in differing sizes on my Dolomites. 185/55x15s on anything are awful, far too heavy making every response of the car lumpen. I can only imagine 195/55x16 being even worse, don't do it, Nigel!

On 13s I like 175/65 or 185/60, on 14s 185/50 seem best, but ...

Re: Looking for different wheels? A warning!

It is, as you say, all about the offset.

Most aftermarket wheels of various sizes are listed as TR7 as presumably that's the dominant market for 95.25mm? As you say, very few are actually suitable and regardless of their size the cars can look comically under-wheeled.

The only 14s and 15s (I have ...

Re: 1979 Dolomite 1500SE

Well, the old stager is still here and thanks to the efforts of Dan Brown it's now running rather better than before. The carbs have been sonically cleaned, Waxstat conversion carried out and an Accuspark dizzy seems to have improved things - the jury is still out on the latter.

With a new MOT I ...

Re: New Sprint Owner WDM 242N

I knew the car in the mid to late nineties. I viewed it (in Ferndown?) on behalf of a buyer in the Wimborne area (Tony Lovern, I think) and took it for a spirited test drive down the local bypass.

At the time it'd recently had a fairly good respray but the engine was down on power. Tony spent a lot ...

Re: Dolomite Sprint Group 1 Race Car Recreation

Fantastic project and great to see it's Keith's old car re-imagined - it was featured in Fast Car back in the day.

Love the new look.

Thanks, Clive.

Could you remind me about the 2p thing? Rings a bell but can't recall the details. Thanks.

Dolomite 1500SE Carburettors

The Waxstat HS4s on my SE are causing me endless issues: rarely in balance, generally lumpy and frustrating.

It's been a long time since I last swapped around engines in our cars: can anyone confirm for me that the single SU and matching manifold are a direct swap with my twins? I know it'd make ...

Thanks, both.

Just as a matter of interest, why would it have less lock? The gearing on the pinion?

2.75 Turn Steering Rack

Amongst my Triumph things earmarked for eBay is a steering rack that, as far as I can tell, has 2.75 turns lock to lock. Does this sound right (ie a 'quick rack') or might I have made an error? I dimly recall something like this being fitted to a FWD, but am not certain.

I know the racks are ...
