Re: TR7 Toledo: Sprint gearbox swap

This is a really interesting thread to me: but it's lacking the info that i REALLY need: Do you think the TR7 engine is a worthwhile transplant into the Tolly? There's not a lot of spares available in Finland, but there is a TR7 engine/box/axle i could get. I've just this week upgraded my 1500 to tw...

Figured out how to get the dizzy loose and read a lot on the subject last night so I'll have a play this evening, high hopes!

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

Well winter has set in so, it’s time to crack on with the Triumph. Antiroll bar has been stripped and powder coated, I’m just waiting on the subframe mounts before I can fit that. The twin carbs are in but I’m having hell getting the car to run right. It’s hard to get the car to run at all, it start...

Re: Twin Carb conversion on the Toledo, Help please!!

1 is indeed the breather system. You really want to retain one, so either the standard setup if you can source the y piece and hoses, or you could use a pcv to the vacuum connection on the manifold (your point 5, I am certain that is a vacuum connection for the brake servo (booster?) ) & the gr...

Twin Carb conversion on the Toledo, Help please!!

Hello all, I have managed to find a useable twin carb set for the Toledo, a set of SU HS4s, originally from a 1500 Spitfire. I stripped the carbs down, ultrasonically cleaned everything and built it back up with new shafts, butterflies and seals. The needles are the same. Kit came with jets which we...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

Well hello ladies and gents, this is long overdue an update, despite the fact that very little with the Triumph has actually progressed. Priority was given to the BMW and getting it ready for its first show, a local event here in my city after the big national show got canx because of Covid. So at l...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

An amendment to the Kitchen Renovation Act was passed and I was permitted to purchase my ultrasonic cleaner yesterday. Running home from work with my shorts and satchel through the snow, I got some time to set it up and clean up the first carburetor. It’s a lot less vigorous than I expected and need...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

The plan is also to buy a ultrasonic parts cleaner today but that will contravene The Kitchen Rennovation so Don’t Buy More Tools act of 2022 . Hey! I thought that was just a UK law, I didn't know it was international law! ;-) I fought the law, and the law was surprisingly reasonable. So now I have...

A new week, some more progress: Throttle and choke linkages before: https://i.postimg.cc/dhsXth3M/9-C1-E0-A66-0944-472-C-AAAE-DBBDDACDA846.jpg And after some love with the wire wheel and a lick’o paint: https://i.postimg.cc/KR6PJwX0/E95-F9-E22-5-CB1-491-D-8-AF4-D877-F59-E9340.jpg Then onto stripping...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

Got the air box back from powder coating. Been feeling a bit rough this week after my booster so I haven’t done much on the fleet. Got the riveter out to reattach the BL plate https://i.postimg.cc/14tR1V4G/01-A6-C2-AC-EE35-41-C1-B6-C0-E13620-FC53-BD.jpg And while it was out also refitted the build p...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

A few updates from this week, not too much as I’ve been focused on getting the bike ready for the bike show, which sadly got canceled yesterday. Well at least I’ll start the summer with a very clean bike. https://i.postimg.cc/0KSr2knf/D453-A4-B6-C998-42-B7-9-E70-F42-A70-C6-AEFB.jpg So this week I re...

Re: 2-door Toledo in Finland

Finally some news as the parts I ordered on payday start to filter through the Finnish postal service. https://i.postimg.cc/NyKtvH1Q/46652289-C3-D2-46-A6-AF15-81-A565-F2761-E.jpg I spent quite a lot on this wheel (including nearly €70 import tax) but I always have the opinion that as the wheel is th...

Re: KLJ895W tinkering...

Just read through this whole thing, what a journey! The colour is really incredible, good call on the vinyl roof, and I think Yellow sprint badges will work really well on the green too. Your mum popping in every so often had me chuckling to myself. Great work Pete, keep it going!

Re: Dolomite Sprint (RNK 957W)

Absolutely top class work, well done. That will be so satisfying once it's all done. It's just sad how quickly these projects get dirty and stained and need a deep clean again. Maybe we should invent some kind of air conditioned indoor velodrome for cars so we don't have to get the toothbrushes and ...

These ones are British Leyland branded, so I expect them all to fall off on their own quite soon :D
