Re: Propellor Shaft Boot tear?

Could also be the rubber boot on the CV joint has failed. This is becoming an increasing issue with the age of our cars, and there doesnt appear to be suitable replacment available.

Re: Paint in Engine Block

My 1850 engine is now completely in bits and going through a full re-build.

As you can see from the attached picture, the inside of the block appears to have been painted black. This seems rather odd to me and my uneducated mind. In that, I am thinking in terms of the strong possibility of paint ...

Re: Sprint Prop Shaft CV Joint Rubber Boot

Yep, I have Spitfire props here with the same cv joint...

If they are the same part as the Sprint boot then it is most likely NLA as well.

As per my original post the replacement needs to be a tailshaft CV boot not a FWD drive shaft boot. It is the rotational speed of the tailshaft that ...

Sprint Prop Shaft CV Joint Rubber Boot

Has anyone been able to find a supplier for the Sprint Prop Shaft CV boot?

We can readily find companies in Australia to recondition the CV joint itself, but they all fit drive shaft rubber boots as part of the overhaul process. The result is because the prop shaft rotates considerable faster than ...

Re: Tightening order for cam caps and rocker assy?

In assume by "old age" you are referring to the cylinder head?? If so that is most likely the main cause of the stripped thread issue. You also need to consider, how many times have they been undone and retightened in the last 50 plus years?

Good practice to lay the cam in the head with as little ...

Re: Laminated replacement windscreen

There are no laminated (or toughened) new screens available off the shelf in Australia.

An acquaintance recently had one custom made at a cost of A$1200 plus GST.

If you want to go this route send me a PM and i will get the details of the supplier for you.

Speaking from experience- if you are like me, in two years you will want to go back to work for a rest.

Re: Sprint broke down - thoughts??

If the bolt issue can be resolved I would have new valve guides fitted to the existing head and recondition it. You know its history. Anything bought off ebay is an unknown quantity and may require more work than the head you have.

Just my thoughts and the way i would fix the issue.

Re: Bore wear Sprint engine

I agree with Geoff.

A number of my race engines have started life as 1850 blocks. Just make sure the water gallery between the pump and block is opened up. Our rule of thumb was you needed to be able to put two fingers through the gallery.

Re: HS8 Bonnet Clearance

I used HS8s on my Ex BTCC Broadspeed Sprint at one time to comply with FIA Group A rules. To make them fit I cut away the bonnet stiffer and had the inlet manifold milled to remove approx 3mm from the lower edge of the manifold tapering to nothing removed from the top. This alloyed the carb tops to ...

Looks like a great series Geoff
What modifications are allowed to keep the cars within their period performance potential?
The Improved Production category in Australia is very liberal with allowed modifications- so we end up with Escorts using Duratec and Zetec engines, which makes the Dolomites ...

Re: Interview with Phillip Lamour (Sprintparts) about his Group C Triumph Dolomite Sprint Race Car.

Hello All,
It has been a while since i was last on the forum under my old "SprintParts" login. I have been busy racing a Honda Integra DC2 Type R so the Sprint has been hibernating.

However The Sprint is now race track ready once again (thanks to COVID Lockdowns) and will be used for its first ...
