Re: Dolomite Sprint for sale
.. Plates aren't ILLEGAL Mart, since whenever it was the rolling VED exemption restarted (2014?) it's been legal to put a black plate on a historic registered car...
IMHO this isn't quite true. The gov back tracked and changed the law in 2021, so only historic vehicles constructed before 1st ...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Advice
... your 1300 Dolomite)., The solution is simple - as with oil pumps - use the spring from your old petrol pump. (Only possible on pumps that can be serviced - they can be identified as they have a circle of 5 or six screws holding the top halve onto the main body.
Even better just refurb your ...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Advice
I have a 1300 dolly, and the pump on started playing up this time last year (sucking air).
To cut a very long story short I tried three different new pumps, two from 'reputable' suppliers and one from a cheap eBay seller. They all caused the float chamber to overflow. I bought a pressure gauge and ...

Re: 1850 Clutch Change
I recently single handidly replaced the single rail 'box on my 1300 dolly. I didn't need to drop the subframe, I can't imagine a non overdrive 1850 would be much different? With both seats removed I had plenty of room, and I used a few lengths of wood which I laid across the floor to help protect ...

Re: 1850/Sprint heater boxes.
My Dolly 1300 has a tap like the rt1228 kit shown on the Rimmer website.
Mine was leaking out of the gland (where the plunger slides) when I got the car, and I repaired it with some o rings. It seems to be okay after a years use....

Many thanks for that!

All seems to be okay now.
Thanks and regards
Jim

Dolly 1300 inlet-exhaust manifold joining stud
Hi folks,
I have today removed my manifolds in order to replace a blowing manifold gasket.
I have found that there is a stud and nut loosely joining the two manifolds.
With the assembly removed from the head I've found that if I tighten the nut, the assembly will not then align with the mounting ...

Re: Cylinder head studs
This is what Retro-Engineering's website says:
We use the standard 7/16 UNC thread into the block with a 7/16 UNF fine thread high tensile nut.
This helps to obtain a consistent clamping force when used in conjunction with a quality head gasket.

Agree with Clive's post but just to add that the contact breaker must be closed when measuring the voltage on the coil.

I have no experience of doing this, but I guess it's worth also including the chassis no of your car (assuming it does already correspond with your existing V5).

That's great thanks!
I'll take the r/h off this week and see if I need a pair.
Thanks again

Source of Dolomite 1300 calipers
I need to replace the l/h caliper as mine is beyond repair. I haven't looked at the other side yet so it's possible I'll need both!
Can anyone recommend the best place to get replacements (not exchange)?
Many thanks
Jim

Re: Diff Head
I can't help answer directly, but I have found this Webpage where making your own spreader tool is described (though for a TR4 diff, which I believe is similar to the Sprint's?)
