Starting the sprint

Started the sprint on Monday, bodywork Reston first job,

Drivers side is the worst so I will start with that, who ever repaired the sill and rear arch before made a hash of it and basically the doors don’t fit, they over hang the sill. The rear door I sourced was a good used one with no repairs ...

I have today bought MHA 447V Sprint, I see it was owned by a member on here a few years ago but has since had a bit of a hard life and now requires restoration although has an MOT, looking through the history it was registered first to BL Cars Ltd longbridge for a couple of years before being bought ...

My next step will be to join the club, I’ve been a forum member for years, I would rather restore this project with parts supplied by the club as much as possible, that way the club benefits and I can also benefit from advise and experience of the members

Needs clutch slave cylinder sorted out, possible master cylinder. Got a wheel arch with the car, I’ve got 2 door skins, the two other doors need lower part replaced, windscreen pillars need repaired which I have mint donor ones, a few sill repairs and probably a lot more as I get into it

Sprint this time

Hi

Managed to become a dolly owner again, this time a 1980 Sprint in green gn29 colour code, been off the road some time, needs a clutch slave cylinder to get it driving, engine runs good, will require some bodywork to get it looking good again

Car was registered 24 2 1980
Chassis number AT105068 ...

basically I have set 11 degrees on strobe gun then point at teeth and that's showing red mark I put on pulley at second last tooth, so I need to turn dizzy until I get it between 3rd 4th marker?

we are running again after wiring checked and related to a faulty wire going to starter motor

anyway when I was checking timing with strobe the tdc mark on pully (with 11 degrees selected as setting) was pointing at second from last tooth on timing guide teeth, I cannot read timing guide as its a ...

not fiddled or fitted anything to dizzy yet but have the accu spark kit for dizzy, anyone have a good pic of timing teeth and what they are mines is quite rusty on top and not really visible anymore to see where the timing mark should be

just another thought, what are the general thoughts on changing points to electronic power spark etc? does it make a difference?
