Re: HE and ESS engine numbers
Ahh, well thanks gents!
Rather hoping it meant it was built by a mad tuning company and it would have +200bhp readily available, but oh well, wishful thinking!

HE and ESS engine numbers
Good afternoon fellow enthusiasts!
Just a curious question, a friend of mine has recently acquired a sprint engine and after looking for the number to gauge the age I noticed it had the letters ESS on the end, the full number: VA2899ESS suggests it's early to me, so was ESS the standard letters ...

http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/gearspeed/ will show you the ratios, my 1850HL box: 3rd OD had a 0.01 of a ratio higher than 4th or so the manual dictated, so there was no noticeable difference at all!
The sprint gearbox however, 3rd OD is noticeably different to 4th
30mph in 3rd OD is around 1700rpm ...

How to go about painting splitters.
Top of the evening chaps,
I was just curious if any of you gentlemen or female types have any experience regarding the painting of the infamous splitter that covers up the ends of flakey valances oh so nicely?
I believe a 'colour coded' splitter would suit my car very much indeed, so just wondered ...

For those who were interested, this was the car! Bit of mismatch bodgery but otherwise doesn't appear too bad, just hoping it was saved by an enthusiast who will sort it out! Being a genuine TC n'all.

Re: Bending the accelerator pedal for heel-and-toe fun!
Easiest way probably is to 'cut and shut' the throttle pedal, or fabricate a wedge that you can weld behind the throttle pedal mount to angle the entire pedal.
It's your car, do what you want with it!

Re: 1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
Bad News,
To anyone that was interested, the 1300 was 'got rid of a few days ago' when 'one of his sons came and took it away'.
Now hopefully this means it will just be stored at his sons house until whatever happens, but I'll still be monitoring the Vehicle Enquiry page quite closely!

Re: 1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
Is this car in Trowbridge?
The elderly-ish driver of a black 1300 had my original 1300sc a number of years ago. I dropped it off for him. His English wasn't great....
If its the same person then he has a whole cars worth of spares!

Re: 1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
I don't have any pics I'm afraid, basically a woman at my work told me that he (her grandmothers 'companion') was going to scrap it, since the corrosion meant it failed the MOT and as such does not feel the need to keep it. So I spoke with the woman saying well if he's going to scrap it, would he ...

Re: 1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
Did you say it is a TC, genuine 1300TC's are very rare.
Well the registration OFJ 45G comes back as a '1300 TC' on Confused.com, unless the owner has had to convert it to single for whatever reason. I shan't be altering it since it wouldn't be worth effectively ruining a 1300 for the sake of ...

Re: 1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
Ahh... Well... Perhaps I'll leave it then!
It was only a theory to see out of interest, nothing is set in stone atm but assuming I were to be given the 1300 I may MOT it and run it as my daily in all it's tax-exempt, TC glory! Assuming I haven't taken up Jon Tilsons tempting proposal :wink ...

1300FWD Sprint Conversion Possible?
I'll try and keep this short and sweet!
I may be given a 1300FWD from a man who was considering scrapping it, apparently it's a bit of a rot-box but it was MOT'd not long ago so that says to me it's not far gone! If I were able to obtain it, I was wondering if was reasonably possible to fit my ...
