Oh and my method is, firstly, disconnect all wiring. Take a pic so you get them all in order later.

Remove the motor from under the car.
Note how many spacers are fitted.

Re: Removing a 1500 Starter Motor
Just done this on my car (1500cc Dolomite) and your post popped up, while I was researching bits to rebuild it, which are getting harder to source. Mine works but is noisy - the end bushes are toast.

Re: Toledo 1300 clutch slave options?
Having owned Toledos/OHV Dolomites since the early 1990s continuously, I have never had to replace a clutch slave cylinder. While they do fail, all of them have responded well to replacement seal kits and occasional fluid flushes - so I can recommend this as a far more economical option.

Re: 1850 Auto, incorrect speedo reading
My 1500TC auto had a lazy speedo. The output flange nut was tight but managed to tighten it by another 2 turns using a long extension - problem solved!

Re: A question for 1300 & 1500cc owners -Does your car have deflector boards fitted
These fibre boards made their first appearance on the face-lift 1975 on Toledos with the black grills. I have never seen them on earlier cars. My P plate Toledo 4-door has them. None of my 73/74 cars has them.

Re: Advice and opinions needed for Toledo project
It sounds like you need to prioritise.
Especially now you have stripped the paint off and the steel is unprotected, sort out the bodywork now as you are making your mind up
If you delay for too much longer, you'll be left with a very rusty Toledo - so get paint onto it, then deal with the ...

Re: Late Indicator Lights / Early car
Sorry to butt in on the indicator front but I suspect that the later indicators are correct for your car. I have a November '75 build Toledo and it has the late indicators.

Re: LED Stop/tail lights
Hi
What would be the penalty for fitting these lights and getting charged for it be,
Driving an unroadworthy vehicle - that is the offence for which the driver can be prosecuted. I can go through the exact laws fitting and using them breaks if you are really that interested.

Think carefully before breaking the law...
Something that has not been mentioned here but is very relevant is that LED bulbs are not road legal. These are the retrofit types. Fitting them makes your vehicle unroadworthy (regardless of what the MOT spots, as this is mainly a Construction and Use issue), for which you, as the driver, are ...

Sorry Jod, only just seen this (I don't get on here much!). Sorry if I was looking a bemused/miserable sod driving past. I blame the kids!

Can offer my daily driver V reg 1500HL, which is pretty tidy, or Villum, the green Toledo, which looks lovely, as it was polished at the NEC.

Re: dealership information (attempt)
One of my Toledos came from Holloway Barker. I believe it came about, when a Rover (Holloway) and Triumph (PW Barker)dealership combined.
I think it would be worth you speaking to a good friend of mine in Malvern, who was in charge of the Triumph dealership network at the time. Send me a message on ...
