Considering the weather SDD was a good turn out with all the full range of cars represented we even had some Citreons and a couple of 2000's.
Many thanks to thsoe who made the journey to stand around in the rain to talk about Dolomites although it did brighten up later in the day and im sure im talking for all when i said it was an enjoyable day, I wont mention the incident with the helicopter :grrr: .
As usual Mr Dvabat took hundreds of pictures (mostly of his own car  ) and some pics will be posted later.

The winner of the Fun quiz will be announced later as well.

Thanks for organising a great day out Justyn - very enjoyable in spite of the rain & good to meet more Doll Nuts.

Thought the quiz was great and reckon we have found 21 answers to the questions - but as you had left before we could hand you the completed sheet I will pm you a copy for checking.

I would also like to than you Justyn for organising the day.

It was good to see that so many Dolomites and TDC members made it.

I was too busy talking to people to visit the museum but it did keep the wife and her friend happy.

Looks like a great day, and a splendid venue.

Sorry for the no-show, but the two Dolomite shaped cars I possess are both in (lots of) bits; and I was tied up all afternoon on Scouting finance matters.

Gutted.....

Thanks for organising this event Justyn.

I must admit that there was a better turn-out than I had imagined due to the inclement weather, so well done to everyone for making the effort. Myself & Mary almost changed our minds about attending when we looked out to see it absolutely chucking it down, but I'm glad we made the effort as we had a great time catching up with old acquaintances & speaking with new faces.

We had a slight breakdown on the way, about 55 miles from the venue. The engine kept cutting out (going back to the old thread on the forum). I thought I had sorted it but obviously not. It turned out to be a dodgy connection on the new set of points & a slight tug pulled the wire out of the connector. So I bared the end of the wire & shoved it in between the connectors. THJ then drove faultlessly the rest of the way. Quote me happy. :D

Unfortunately on the way home we broke down again. THJ had been brilliant all the way until we got about 30 miles from home (place called Ashcott). The engine started to splutter & then it felt like it was only running on 2-3 cylinders. Then it stopped completely & I just about managed to pull in off the busy road. I tried several times but it refused to start. I had a look under the bonnet, suspecting fuel starvation, but not having any tools on me  there wasn't a lot I could do. I tried several more times but it wouldn't start. So I had no option but to call the AA out. The man arrived about 1½ later by which time I had got it running again. Basically, after about ½ hour of waiting, I decided to give it another go. It spluttered a bit but then picked up & started revving freely on all cylinders. Anyway, the AA man followed me for a few miles to make sure it wasn't going to happen again. It didn't & we went merrily on our way. It was fine for the rest of the journey except for maybe 2-3 misses.

I'll have a look at the float bowls & fuel pump filter to see if any carp has got in, maybe tomorrow.

The joys of driving an old British car.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

Great day out ! Thanks to All. And an inspired choice of venue with it's Museum with its excellent cafe. We thoroughly recommend the pork-and-apple sauce baguettes and the real coffee. Much better than anywhere else. Same place next year ?
Cheers All,

From one thoroughly p155ed off member of the TDC - hope you all had a great day on Sunday. Looking at the display of cars people walking about it went off really well.

Why didn't I turn up as I promised? Ahem! Spent all day Saturday changing the oil (even undoing the oil cooler to make sure the old stuff was fully drained) sorting out a few minor wiring issues, generally tarting the Sprint up before giving it a good wash and polish. This was only put on hold while I had to take the dog out for a walk (twice for 90 mins each - the missus insisted as I was leaving her to do both on Sunday - no contest really!) Finally put the Sprint in the garage about 8.15 - she was gleaming!! :D . Anyway. Got my head down at 10:15 ready to smash the alarm when it went off at 6am. However, couldn't get to sleep. (No - counting sheep definitely doesn't work) and, after four hours of extremely frustrating attempts at sleep, decided to leg downstairs and have a cup of chocolate and a read of the paper. Back to bed at 4.40am - still couldn't get off. :x Managed to get about 45 mins in before the heavy rain woke me at about 5.30  Tried again and when the alarm eventually did go off - I could only just mumble to the missus - "Turn the bloody thing off, I'm not going!" I felt that if I had of struggled out and drove the 3hrs or so I would quite easily have nodded off and ended up in a hedge or something - so couldn't really take the chance. Bugger - is all I can say.

Let's hope this doesn't happen again for the TDCIR! I think I'll check the car over the weekend before and just leave her in the garage until the event!

Oh' just to say - I won't be able to attend for the full weekend - it'll be just the Sunday so I'll be leaving Plymouth early on the Sunday morning.

We too nearly didnt go, but glad we did. Thanks to Justin for organising it - a very good venue which I hadn't heard of before!

Shame about the weather, but it did improve, and the museum was all in the dry anyway!

Was nice to put a few faces to names too. Both the 2 door sprint, and 1850 were out of MOT, (the 2 dr expired on the 4th , which was annoying!), but it was nice to give the PI a run. I am sorry I only managed to wash the screen and polish nothing, but only one of the published photos show it well enough to matter anyway - Phew!

Thanks again
David
