High tensile bolts are used for a reason and stainless steel bolts are not high tensile.

have been busy degreasing the engine today, so far everything seems ok to me cant understand what happeded though must of been the starter destroying itself so it has now been reconditioned.

sump has now been painted and replaced not after fitting a new set of big end bearings first.

just now got to paint it up, replace the clutch and repaint the engine bay. :D

which reminds me....how do you remove the bearing from the carrier???

It just taps off....you pull the fork off the ball and the carrier come off the main shaft tubular bearing, then the encased ball bearing drifts off the tube.

 I'd prefer a pink engine to a satellite-shaped hole in my roof!

Mind you; if someone knew where it would land and could find a large enough net, I'm sure there'd be some useful parts in one of those satellite jobbies.

Well today way going great....

another coat of paint applied to the engine and engine bay,
removed all the semi rusted through core plugs on the engine.
then started to fit the new ones, only to discover I was one short.

Unlucky Alf strikes again!!!

on a plus though i finally managed yesterday to pop into town to collect a mysterious parcel that arrived last week.
on opening it discovered the correct clutch release fork for the car
