Not suitable for cars with a pull-up reverse gear?
That couldn't be it, so I'm going to say that it's a pointless trinket that wouldn't have been fitted without a gate map at the time in any case. Nice though, but if the thread's so rubbish that it isn't fit for purpose, I'd spend the money on a pool ball instead.

The Toledo TS had a non-OD single rail box.

The parts catalogue shows steel wheels and the plastic trims as seen on the 1500HL & 1850HL.

I've never understood why the compo bods at Canley didn't use the lighter, stiffer 2 door shell for racing apps surely it wouldn't have been too hard to produce a couple of hundred homologation specials with sprint power and webbers or similar, I'd give one a good home and I daresay i'm not alone! I guess the answer is the same as for any quetion that starts "why don't they.....? COST! Steve

I think Carledo that it was never thought of as they already had a two door body-shell in mind for rallying purposes - the TR7.

As said before James Prince has done a Toledo TS replica and i believe done a lot of research into the car.

Here are some photos i found of his car not the best im afraid but it does show the side and the front of the car.

Here is James's car on the far right of the picture as far as i remember the car has a 1500 spitfire engine and i think now sports spitfire wheels it also had the Toledo TS
Badges

And a frontal view showing sprint spoiler.

I don't want to be picky  , James car is very lovely. What I can see there is a 4 door Toledo, TS was a 2 door, with vinyl roof, black radiator grille and broad side stripes, unless James has updated his car recently(?) then I am afraid I cannot see that being described as a "Toledo TS replica".

Sorry Chris.

To be fair to James,
in his article he states that his modifications are to create a Toledo of TS mechanical specification.
This he achieved and indeed was able to insure his Toledo as "export specification".

That does sound (to me) to be more descriptive to the cars current spec.
