Good luck with the MOT, though Alun brings up a very good point above.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Re: My Sprint - Pictures
Do not fear! That rusty looking mark is not actually rust! It's just where there was a bit of thin paint and I sprayed some waxoil over it to protect it. That's just the colour it went after!Beware that rust mark running along the outside of the OSF chassis mounting; redolent of the box section there rusting through from the inside!
Only bit of rust that need attention is the bootlid. I now have a good secondhand one that just needs spraying up when I get the chance.
Thanks for all the great comments.
Much appreciated.

Re: My Sprint - Pictures
Just a quick update. WDY250M passed the MOT on Monday, no advisories
. Had one or two little issues sorted while it was being tested (MOT tester is an old school friend and likes the older cars!) like headlamp aim, couple of loose rear anti roll bar bolts
and a brake light bulb. All taxed now and road legal, first time since 1990 according to DVLA!
Done about 50-60 miles so far and have encountered one or two little niggly faults. Main one being it was severely down on power compared to how I remember my last sprint to be which I owned 22 years ago. Had a feeling that the throttle was not opening fully ( I had this on my previous sprint) so with the help of an assistant pressing the go pedal I observed the carbs and sure enough they were only opening 70-75%. Moved the accelerator cable to the other hole in the plate where the adjustment is made and bingo, fully opening throttles. Took it out for a run and my god what a difference
.
Another little problem I have is an oil leak from the bottom right hand corner of the rocker cover. It seems that the rocker cover is fouling on a head stud which is too high. The cover is sitting 1-2mm too high and has to flex a lot to tighten down. you can even see a depression on the outside of the cover where the stud is trying to burst through once it is tightened down. Anybody else ever encountered this? Can studs be removed with the head in situ? I had a try today but it wouldn't budge. Only other thing I could try is a thicker gasket but it would have to be pretty thick. Could have plug tube issues then I suppose?
Only other thing is the float chamber cover gaskets need renewing as one is weeping a bit. It appears the fuel is coming out up and down from the screw holes?.
Oh and I need to get the wheel alignment sorted.
Apart from that, happy days. Really enjoying having a Sprint again and the fun it is to drive one
.
Cheers
Howard

Re: My Sprint - Pictures
I've encountered the high stud problem before.
I took a piece of corrugated cardboard bigger than the head and made a stud nut sized hole in it and dropped it over the stud and nut and then sealed it to the nut with plasticene such that the entire head was shrouded and then took an angle grinder to the top of the stud (blanket over windscreen).
Do you have the cap headed rocker cover bolts? They allow a better incremental tightening down using allen key instead of screwdriver (centre first radiating out). If not I can supply these through Club Spares.

Thanks for the reply xvivalve.
I'm sort of happy that you had this problem and with the way you dealt with it. I had thought after I had posted my last post that I could possibly grind some off the top. It has the flat screwdriver slot in the top of my stud, so if I just lost that bit I'm sure it would be ok.
Thanks for affirming that this would be an acceptable method of dealing with it.
