There are two types of left foot braking. In a front wheel drive you brake and keep the power on into the bend. This upsets the balance of the car by moving the weight forward allowing the car to oversteer round the bend. Preventing it from washing out in the bend with under steer. Which can be very prevelant with the LSD used. Mainly used on gravel. With a rwd you can use put your boot down to get the back end out. So it is only at advantage is if you have a dog box, so can change gear without a clutch you can use on foot to accelerate and the other to brake. Meaning quick reaction on the brakes.
As for heal and toe. As jon say just use the side of you foot.

Re: Bending the accelerator pedal for heel-and-toe fun!
A mate of mine lost his leg in a motorcycle accident but it did not quench his thirst for speed, he came round in his bike engined kit car that has no reverse gear so I rowed his car back using his leg as an oar much to the amusement of my motorcycling trackdaying neighbour (a girl)!Carledo wrote:An old mate of mine lost his left leg in a poaching accident, he had his car converted in just such a fashion though the cable operated a remote servo assisted master cylinder. I drove it once or twice and though it was a bit strange at first, I soon adapted and the whole thing is quite intuitive to use especially for anyone who's ridden a motorbike.
